What is the Marketspot Online Marketplace?
The Marketspot Online Marketplace is an exciting addition to the popular Marketspot YYC store and pop up events located in Calgary Alberta. With our online marketplace we can feature more products, more vendors and seasonal favourites all year round! We’re extremely proud to promote independent Canadian artists, makers, and local businesses so we created an online marketplace where customers across Canada can enjoy locally made products. Our model still allows our vendors to pack, ship, and maintain a relationship with their customers.
Why Join the Online Marketplace?
With popular pop events and a storefront, Marketplace supports hundreds of local businesses each year, and we’re aiming to be the largest online marketplace for locally made Canadian goods. By extending our offering to include an e-commerce platform we’ve created a unique community for our vendors and shoppers. All our vendors are vetted through an application process to ensure all their products are handmade and crafted in Canada. This ensures the integrity of our platform. Additionally, the online marketplace allows vendors to expand their reach to shoppers across Canada year round!
The BadgesÂ
At Marketspot we wanted to create a platform that celebrates everyone's differences and unites like minded vendors and shoppers; this includes their beliefs, identity, heritage and lifestyle. We created a badge system that easily helps you identify categories of vendors and products. It helps shoppers know how products are made and which communities they support. When setting up your vendor profile, you can apply for vendor and product badges that are relevant to you. The identity vendor badges include; Founding Member, PoC, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+. The product badges include; 100% Canadian Made, Vegan, Customizable, Upcycles, Support Pledge, In-Store, and 100% Handmade.
How It Works
The Markespot online marketplace is based on a drop-shipping model, so you as the vendor would still pack, ship and maintain relationships directly with your buyers. The marketplace is open to any local business that fits the criteria of being part of the Marketspot community.Â
The Marketspot team approves all vendors, products and listings before they are live so that like our pop-up events and in-store experience, it is a thoughtfully curated experience for our shoppers. Please read our T&Cs for our full terms.
What We Take Care of:Â
Marketspot will be responsible for maintaining the technology and extending our marketing activities to include the online marketplace, bringing more shoppers to your virtual door.Â
Once your vendor application is approved, you will be ready to set up your virtual store! You will create your own login and receive access to your seller dashboard where you will find a handy “how to” video to set up your store.Â
What You Take Care of:Â
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining your product listings, as well as managing and fulfilling your orders.Â
