Lake Windermere is a component of the Columbia Wetlands, encompassing over 15,000 hectares and standing as one of the most extensive pristine wetlands in North America. Hosting a habitat for at least 300 wildlife species, including endangered ones like the peregrine falcon and the American badger, it is a vital ecosystem.
